False Jasmine started as an idea by Sam Strickland and Omar Barazanji 2 years ago to create music that pushes the bounds of rock music and composition. False Jasmine's earliest influences include Frank Zappa, Robert Fripp (King Crimson), Gong, John McLaughlin (Mahavishunu Orchestra), and many more 70s era progressive rock icons. Recent influences are bands like The Mars Volta, The Oh Sees, Don Caballero, and much more (see our SecretJasmine Spotify Playlist)!
Fast forwarding, the band grew to what it is today after linking up with old friends from the Enterprise / Dothan / Montgomery music scene in Birmingham, AL. Ty Kennedy, Cosmo Steinhauer, Omar Barazanji, and Sam Strickland all grew up in the same city, Enterprise AL. They were all involved in playing music around the city, and they all jammed together frequently. Added members away from home include: Adam Davila, a good friend from the Montgomery scene who played shows with Omar and Ty back in the day, Eli Sims, another friend who joined the group from Birmingham, and Peyton Spencer, a key player and fellow producer that Omar met in college at Auburn University. These 7 people are currently working together to create a brand new image for the group with a vibrant live experience and eclectic musical background.
